Colour is the perfect tool to transform your space. The use of light colours in a small room can create the illusion of space.  Deeper warmer tones can make that same small space feel cozy and inviting.  Keeping ceilings white or light in colour will give the illusion of height.   In larger rooms with high ceilings the use of deeper colours on walls or ceiling can create intimacy.

 If colour alone just isn't enough you can also try creating visual breaks in the room by adding a chair rail and paint the upper and lower portions a different colour. Picture mouldings are also a good option. You can create framed panel insets and  paint the interior of the section a different shade from the wall.  In the same respect that colour can help transform a space, texture can play an important role in how your room feels. The use of faux finishing is an excellent and effective way to create visual texture in your home. A faux finish can be a fun and creative way to express you personal style. If you do not have any experience with this we recommend you speak with a professional faux finisher.

FINISHES

Depending on what room you are painting the finish that you need varies. For example kitchens and bathrooms require more maintenance and you will want a finish that is easy to clean. Perhaps the walls in your home have imperfections that should be painted with a lower sheen to help hide imperfections.
